Project Scope
Spantech was contracted to design a complete indoor sports facility and construct the project in stages to suit the school’s budget and planned growth.
Project Overview
Kings Christian College is the largest single campus Christian School in Australia. Located at Reedy Creek on Queensland’s Gold Coast, the College offers childcare and preschool as well as Primary and Secondary schooling on the same campus.
Stage I was completed in 2009 and comprised a large covered outdoor learning area (COLA).
Stage II was completed in 2012. During this major stage an indoor sports hall and two storey structure was added to the existing shade structure.
The two storey central hub connected directly to the shade structure. It included four classrooms, a gymnasium, a staff room and two sets of amenities to service the sports hall and a future swimming pool hall.
The sports hall included two full sized multipurpose courts for basketball, netball, futsal and volleyball. Two large store rooms flank the sports hall.
Spantech also constructed a large carpark and installed two massive underground stormwater tanks that provide water for amenities in the new facility.
In the future Stage III, a 25 metre swimming pool will be constructed under the COLA and the COLA will be enclosed to provide a fully featured indoor swimming pool hall.
