Spantech was awarded a Very Highly Commended Certificate for the construction of five Spantech 23 metre Explosives Storehouses at the Waiouru Army Camp, New Zealand.

Spantech was awarded a Very Highly Commended Certificate for the construction of five Spantech 23 metre Explosives Storehouses at the Waiouru Army Camp, New Zealand. The Defence Industry Advisory Council coordinates the Minister of Defence Awards of Excellence to Industry on an annual basis. Eleven nominations were received for the 2006 Awards. Spantech was nominated in Category B for the supply of equipment or services below $7 million, which recognises companies providing excellent service in a variety of ways.

Earth Covered Building Construction

The awards dinner was held in Wellington at Te Papa on Wednesday 18 October, 2006. Mr Chris Seed, Acting Secretary of Defence presented the awards on behalf of the Hon. Phil Goff, Minister of Defence.

Major General (RDT) Louis J (Lou) Gardiner, ONZM, Chief of Army at the time, said when he officially opened the project:

“Spantech worked exceptionally well with the Army and a large group of subcontractors who completed most of the site work under Spantech’s direction.”
