Spantech design and constructed a large Aircraft Maintenance Complex to maintain the Royal Malaysian Air Force fleet of MiG 29 fighter aircraft.
The complex was designed in cooperation with Aerospace Technology Systems Corporation, the company awarded the contract to maintain the aircraft.
The main building in the facility is the 60 metre wide x 80 metre long fighter maintenance hangar. It includes workshops, an administration wing and technical facilities. The air-side facade of the building features large mechanically operated hangar doors that can open to the full width of the building.
Other Spantech buildings in the project include:
- a fighter aircraft wash bay
- shaded parking for emergency vehicles
- equipment stores, and
- undercover parking for staff and visitors.
The project was designed and constructed in conjunction with Spantech’s Malaysian licensee.
