Spantech Longreach Tapered profile is unique. It is Australia’s only long-span metal roofing system that combines the benefits of a wide span roofing system with a rollformed taper range of more than 50%.
The Longreach Tapered profile is a superior roofing system specifically designed for large-scale commercial projects.
Unleashing new architectural possibilities with circular roofs, free-formed buildings and wild new possibilities.
March Studio, one of Australia’s most creative architectural practices won an international design competition with a unique concept for OMOA,
the Outback Museum of Australia.
March Studio’s, inspired design comprised a number of free-formed
multi-purposed pavilions connected and defined by a circular roof that hovers above the structures to shade the exhibition and retail zones from the harsh outback sun.
Rodney Eggleston and the team at March Studio are hands on. The approach is the inspiration behind their practice name. March Studio engaged Spantech to collaborate to resolve the design of the main roof.
The result is the stunning Spantech Longreach Tapered profile.
Longreach Tapered Profile is an innovative modification of the successful Spantech Longreach 800 profile.
A new secondary rollforming machine is used to mechanically taper the Longreach 800, gradually and uniformly varying the cover width of the profile along the length of the roof sheet. This process retains the strength and integrity of the original profile so it continues to achieve industry leading wide-spans.
Cleverly, the tapering process also maintains the angle of the interlocking rib head to ensure the roof sheets easily and securely engage together without fasteners or unnecessary perforations.
The shape of the Spantech Longreach Tapered profile maintains the subtle curved details of the original Longreach 800 allowing the profile to achieve maximum strength. This shape also minimises rollforming stress on the material coating to ensure long life and maximum material warranty.
The curves in the base of the profile are unchanged in the tapering process. They reflect the shape of traditional corrugated iron so the Spantech Longreach Tapered profiles integrate seamlessly with a range of readily available roofing accessories and complimentary corrugated profiles.
Spantech Longreach Tapered profiles are connected to each other via a unique interlocking seam.
It securely connects the profiles together without fasteners. The connection is strong, watertight and requires no penetrations in the profile. This eliminates penetrations which can cause leaks, corrosion, and expansion and contraction noise.
Additional benefits of eliminating fasteners:
Spantech Longreach Tapered profiles are connected to structural supports through a flat zone in the profile rib to ensure a watertight seal. This is very important for long-span profiles with significant expansion and contraction. Spantech specifies and supplies watertight fasteners that allow expansion and contraction without leaks – guaranteed.
Spantech has an extensive collection of pre-engineered standard details to suit most common applications.
Spantech’s in-house design also collaborate with Architects, Engineers and industry professionals to develop project-specific solutions.
Our service includes engineering design and certification of our products included in our price.
We also offer engineering guidance at each stage of design. This assures Architects that their design can be achieved with issues resolved early in the design phase to avoid delays and unnecessary costs.
Spantech’s quotes prices includes roof Engineering service (as described above), plus all equipment and transport, on-site or off-site manufacturing (as applicable), all accessories and fasteners.
We provide this comprehensive and transparent package to remove all hidden costs. It ensures that the Builder, Roofing Contractor and Client do not receive any unplanned variations.
Spantech can install the products we supply, with our crews regularly working all over Australia and New Zealand.
Alternatively, Spantech can train and work with your preferred local Roofing Contractor to install our systems. If you do not already have a preferred contractor, we can recommend a local contractor who is trained and experienced with our systems.
Spantech uses Australian made and imported steel, subject to the requirements of the project. For example, all aluminium is now imported. Any imported materials (steel or aluminium) are specifically manufactured and imported for Spantech. It is guaranteed to meet Australian Standards and Spantech’s own stringent specifications.
As a result, Spantech can generally offer longer warranty periods and more favourable conditions to our Clients. The warranty Spantech provides is supported directly by the coil steel manufacturer.
Our projects demonstrate Spantech’s innovative design, our capabilities and quality workmanship.
Spantech builds specialised commercial projects using wide-span roll formed metal profiles developed by Spantech.
