Spantech has designed and built a new COLA for the Glenvale Christian School in Toowoomba, Qld.
The tricky sloping site allowed Spantech the opportunity to create an unusual split-level design.
The games level features a mini netball and futsal court, plus a full sized volleyball court.
Sports equipment includes two basketball backboards mounted on the building’s columns and are ideal for all weather practice. The height of the backboards is adjustable to suit the age of the players. Grandslam also provided tailored retractable perimeter nets to make sure balls do not go astray during the game.
A set of 16m wide concrete stairs leads up from the games level to a large stage. The stage is large enough to accommodate the growing schools needs well into the future. The steps can also be used as casual seating when watching a game.
The school elected to undertake the landscaping themselves. No doubt parents and friends will soon be called upon to help out at a working bee. The lighting system installed in the COLA will ensure the volunteers can stay on and enjoy the facility well after sundown.
Spantech designed the structure so that the school can enclose the building at some stage in the not too distant future.
